Supported by a strategic marketing plan, the business tourism sector continues to grow in Argentina, and Buenos Aires has recently been ranked number one in the Americas for growth levels within this sector. The country also reaches good positions in the world rankings, confirms a report published on the website of the National Chamber of Tourism.

BUENOS AIRES, AR - LAN has been officially approved by the ANAC (Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil) to make regional flights to Sao Paulo from Aeroparque Metropolitano Jorge Newbery (Buenos Aires’ local airport). This move was announced by Pablo Querol, manager of Institutional Relations at LAN Argentina, and flights began on June 1st with two flights scheduled per day on A320 aircraft. This new authorization for LAN Argentina followed last May’s authorization for daily flights from Aeroparque to Santiago de Chile. These flights were in addition to the six daily flights to Santiago that LAN already offered from Ezeiza International Airport.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BR - After four months of restoration work, during which time it was covered in scaffolding, Rio's most famous landmark, the statue of 'Christ the Redeemer', again graces the skyline of the city. Renovation work to mend various cracks and leaks was carried out by more than one hundred workers with support from the Archdiocese of Rio and the mining company Vale, with an investment of $7 million. This is the biggest renovation made on the 30m stone statue in its 80 years of existence. According to the administration of the Tijuca National Park, where the monument is located, the statue receives an average of 1.8 million tourists every year. The inauguration of the new facade took place on June 30th and was attended by local authority officials and the Archbishop of Rio, Mr Orani Tempesta.

Lufthansa To Resume Service To Bogotá |

Lufthansa is expanding its services to South America with the introduction of the 2010/2011 winter timetable on 31 October. On this date the airline will resume flights to the Colombian capital Bogotá. Five flights per week are scheduled between Frankfurt and Bogotá, operated by an Airbus A340. Lufthansa served Bogotá, which is situated in the northwestern corner of South America, until 2002. Once this service is resumed, Lufthansa will offer its customers a total of 60 flights per week to four destinations in South America. “Colombia is one of the growth regions in South America,” says Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, Lufthansa’s Head of Hub Management Frankfurt. “This winter, Bogotá will become the fourth destination in South America after Buenos Aires, São Paulo and Caracas to be served non-stop by Lufthansa from Frankfurt.
